A fight broke out at the Hiya flats on Wednesday night amid a family dispute and an arrest has been made, the police have said.
A 19-year-old Maldivian man was arrested over the assault inside an apartment at the Hiya flat tower six, police said.
A 22-year-old man was injured after he was assaulted over a dispute in the family, the investigation has found so far, the police said in a message sent to the media.
The victim was undergoing treatment at the Hulhumale' hospital. But the police have yet to reveal details of his injury.
The incident came amid a spike in gang fights in Male' and Addu. The police deployed teams in both cities for security operations in response to the violence.
Several arrests have been made in connection with the gang violence. On Wednesday, the police also seized weapons prepared for use by gangs in Addu.
Places where gang members gather are being searched as well, the police said.
