The government has decided to donate two million tuna cans to help the Palestinians facing Israeli bombardment since October 7.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid said in a post on social media that the decision was made by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

"This donation is a symbol of our deepest solidarity with the people of Palestine," Shahid wrote in his post on X.

"The Government and the people of Maldives will always stand with the people of Palestine, in their struggle to achieve self-determination and lasting peace."

Israeli attacks have intensified, killing 700 Palestinians in the past 24 hours alone. The total number of Palestinian martyrs has risen to over 5,000.

Israel is also committing many serious war crimes by cutting off water and electricity, bombing hospitals and destroying food production facilities.
