The police have decided to start sending caution notice text messages to vehicle owners for speeding and illegal lane changes on the Sinamale’ bridge.
The police announced on Wednesday that vehicles that drive past the speed limit and change lanes illegally will be identified through cameras, after which messages will be sent to the registered owner with effect on October 15.
The caution notice will include the speed of the vehicle.
The police will use cameras installed on the bridge to calculate vehicle speeds and flag illegal lane changes. The messages will not include any links, the police noted.
The police urged drivers not to exceed speed limits and to abide by traffic rules intended to ensure road safety.
