Applications have opened to join a training program for those seeking an international driving license.
The Transport Ministry said in an announcement on Wednesday that the training program was intended to ensure that the locally issued license meets international standards.
Applications can be submitted online through the Sims portal.
Drivers with a permanent A-zone license are eligible to apply for the training program.
The international driving license will be accepted in countries that have acceded to the 1968 ‘Vienna Convention on Road Traffic,’ the ministry noted. The Maldives became a party to the convention in January this year.
Nearly 100 countries are party to the convention, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and UAE.
