The final list of recipients for land plots in the ‘Binveriyaa’ housing scheme was published in the government gazette in the early hours of Monday.

According to the final list, over 18,000 people will get land and the government has decided to allot 9001 plots from Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu.

Only 684 people out of the eligible applicants will not be allotted land in this round. They are single applicants between the ages of 18-25 who are unmarried and without children.

At a press conference held at the President’s Office Sunday night, State Minister for Housing Akram Kamaluddin said land allotments from Hulhumale' and Gulhifalhu would begin this week, following a drawing of lots among the recipients on Tuesday.

He did not reveal the number of plots that can be allotted before the September 9 presidential election. But he guaranteed that the land plot registration certificate will be handed over to the beneficiaries before the current presidential term ends on November 11.
