Maldives Customs Service has seized 10.14 kilos of drugs from a Pakistani national at the Velana International Airport.
The 25-year-old who took a flight from Faisal Abad on Monday was stopped and questioned after customs officials found him to be suspicious.
They checked his luggage and found 10.14 kilos of drugs that tested positive for heroin. It has a street value of MVR 13 million.
The confiscated drugs and the suspect were handed over to the police.
Pakistan is a hotspot for trafficking drugs to the Maldives. Last week, four Pakistanis were detained and 227 bullets of drugs were seized.
Several Pakistani people have been detained previously for smuggling and trafficking drugs. On April 14, five kilos of drugs were seized at the airport from a Pakistani national.
Some 100 kilos of drugs and several Pakistani nationals were arrested earlier for attempting to smuggle by a sea boat.
