Convicted drug kingpin unlawfully released by Parole Board
The Parole Board has unlawfully released convicted drug kingpin Abdulla Ibrahim, who was serving a 25-year sentence for smuggling 98kg of narcotics. His release violates the Prisons and Parole Act, as he had not served the mandatory 12.5 years required for eligibility. Police had previously warned against granting him leniency.
