WAMCO employee in ventilator after accidentally swallowing diesel

An employee from the Waste management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) is in the ventilator in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after accidentally swallowing diesel.

WAMCO media officer Shuau Haneef told Adhadhu that the incident occurred when the employee used a pipe to suck out diesel from a container to pour it into another container.

He was initially treated at the Gaaf Alif Villingili Hospital and evacuated to Male' in critical condition.

Shuau insisted that WAMCO sites have all the necessary equipment and the incident occurred because the employee decided to suck out the diesel to speed up the work.

The employee's family members from Kulhudhuffushi city are also in Male' now and WAMCO is covering the expenses for his treatment. Shuau said the company was closely monitoring the his affairs.
