Deputy Minister at the Education Ministry Mohamed Sujau was suspended from his post on Wednesday after some of his family members met former President Abdulla Yameen.

Adhadhu understands that Sujau's brother Ahmed Sobah, President of Haa Alif Ihavandhoo Council and his brother-in-law, Mohamed Areeb, Vice President of Haa Alif Ihavandhoo Council met Yameen.

Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu told Adhadhu that the President's Office informed about Sujau's suspension, but no reason was stated.

Shafeeu said political appointees will face action if they violate their code of conduct. Sujau was put on suspension with pay.

Another member of the family, Shahma Moosa, who was the political director of a Health Centre in Ihavandhoo, has also been suspended.

Ihavandhoo councilors met with Yameen on the sidelines of the Thilauthuru Awards held in Dhidhdhoo on October 26. Yameen was the chief guest of the ceremony.
