The teenage son of celebrity couple Mohamed Abdul Ghani and Mariyam Ashfa died in a road accident in Male' on Sunday night.

The accident happened on a zebra cross near the bus terminal. A speeding motorcycle hit a man crossing the road and then crashed into a pickup.

Reports say 17-year-old Yoosuf Alson Mohamed was riding the motorcycle. A 16-year-old boy who was in the back of the motorcycle and a 40-year-old man were also injured.

Police said they remain in critical condition. Alson's parents are popular vocal artists in the Maldives. His funeral is scheduled after Asr prayer.
