A woman who was burnt in a fire in Alif Alif Rasdhoo island died last night.

Rasdhoo Council President Mohamed Nahid confirmed her death at around 7:30 pm.

The 31-year-old woman died in the ICU of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) while being treated on a ventilator.

Her husband, who was also burned in the incident, is currently in the ICU.

Nahid told Adhadhu that the fire had happened in the couple's room on March 24 and that no one else was injured. The couple also has a five-year-old child.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Police have not yet commented on the incident.
