Police have not disclosed any updates of the investigation into the fire which destroyed the buildings of the Housing Ministry, Planning Ministry and Environment Ministry on December 12 last year.

Adhadhu repeatedly questioned the police for updates, but they have not provided any information more than a year after the incident.

Police announced a press conference on June 24 to brief journalists on the incident. However, the press conference was canceled at the last minute without stating a reason.

On December 17, 2024, police said they were seeking public assistance in the investigation. They urged anyone with information to share it with the Major Crime Investigation Department.

Police said on December 20, 2024 that a team of Indian experts were providing technical assistance to the fire investigation.

The Indian team left the Maldives on December 22, 2024. Police disclosed this five days after their departure. But they did not say why the team left after just two days in the Maldives.

The Housing Ministry, Construction Ministry and Environment Ministry buildings were completely burnt down in the fire.

The ministries were temporarily transferred to the Dharubaaruge convention centre.
