A boat has sunk near Barcelo Maldives resort today after colliding with another excursion vessel.

Police said no one was injured in the accident and one of the boats had sunk due to the damage.

Videos circulating on social media showed people being rescued from the sinking boat. Police said an investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said a launch inside the lagoon of Hulhumale' caught fire this afternoon.

But photos and videos obtained by Adhadhu showed a fuel boat. Black smoke was seen rising from the vessel.

It is unclear whether anyone was injured. Some videos showed people being rescued from the burning vessel.
