Former Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer was appointed Finance Minister on Monday after former Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq resigned, the government has said.

According to a news posted on the President's Office website to announce the cabinet reshuffle, Shafeeq submitted his resignation on Monday.

However, the government did not mention the reason for his resignation. Shafeeq has also not commented.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu decided to transfer Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer to the post of Finance Minister and Health Minister Abdulla Khaleel to the post of Foreign Minister.

Meanwhile, the Public Policy Secretary at the President's Office Abdulla Nazim became the new Health Minister.
