Former Mahchangolhi South MP Ahmed Haitham's car has been blown up in Sri Lanka.
Haitham told Adhadhu that the explosion occurred on Wednesday while in a garage for repairs following an accident.
"I returned to Male' after keeping the car in a garage for repairs due to damage caused in an accident about three weeks ago. I got a call from Sri Lanka today, they said it has been blown up while in the garage," Haitham said.
Haitham, who now lives in Sri Lanka, said the car exploded after the garage finished the repairs on Tuesday and had contacted him to pick it up.
Noting that the car accident had been reported to the Sri Lankan police, Haitham said the car blast had also been reported.
Haitham added that he received numerous threats as his term in Parliament ended. He accused the Maldivian police of not investigating any of those complaints.
