MDP Congress 2026

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) officially launched its mobile application, "YELO", during its ongoing national congress today.

According to the MDP, the app is designed to streamline the dissemination of information regarding party activities and other essential updates directly to its members.

"The YELO app will serve as a central platform for administrative tasks, member information services, and fostering engagement and consultation among party members," the MDP stated.

The "YELO" app allows any MDP member to log in using their national identity card number. Individuals who are not yet members can also submit membership applications directly through the login interface.

Key features of the app include digital membership cards, details regarding party branches, news updates, and a calendar of upcoming events. The party further noted that a community chat feature will facilitate direct communication between members, branches, and committees.

The application is currently available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The MDP is the Maldives' oldest political party and currently stands as the nation's largest opposition group. According to the latest statistics from the Elections Commission, the party maintains a membership of 55,399 individuals.

The ongoing session marks the MDP’s fifth National Congress, with 986 delegates participating in this year’s assembly.
