Fathimath Ameeza has been appointed as the Commissioner General of Taxation.
The Parliament granted its approval for her appointment last Wednesday. The motion to appoint Ameeza passed unanimously with the consensus of all 64 members present during the session.
Prior to this appointment, Ameeza served as the Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation. Her name was submitted to Parliament for consideration by President Mohamed Muizzu.
Ameeza has served at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) for over 16 years. She holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
The position of Commissioner General of Taxation became vacant following the resignation of Hassan Zareer, who stepped down to assume the role of Finance Minister.
