President Mohamed Muizzu announced today that the recipients of land plots and flats under the government's "Housing for All" scheme will be finalized and publicized within this year.
According to the government, 15,000 land plots will be allocated under the scheme, mostly located in Rasmale'. Additionally, 7,900 flats will be distributed within the Greater Malé Region.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office, Muizzu confirmed that the official lists of recipients for both land plots and flats would be released before the end of the year.
"By the end of this year, the verification process for all land plot applicants will be completed, and the recipients will be notified," he said. "God willing, we will also announce the dates for the flat allocations in the coming days, ensuring it happens within this year."
Muizzu emphasized that the lists would only be published after a thorough vetting process. He added that the announcement would specify exactly which housing project each recipient has been assigned to.
"We will release the list once all necessary evaluations are complete. The publication will be detailed and categorized, clearly identifying each recipient and the project from which they will receive their flat. We intend to provide that level of detail in our announcement," he said.
During the press conference, Muizzu also noted that the reclamation of Rasmale' (Fushidhiggaru lagoon) is expected to be finished by the end of this year. Furthermore, he announced a deadline for the completion of all housing units by mid-2028.
