The construction company responsible for a site where two expatriate workers were injured in a fall has been fined MVR 5,000.
Male' City Council identified the penalized firm as Beetrax Dream. The Council stated that the fine was imposed due to the company's failure to implement adequate safety measures and for negligence in supervising the work site.
"The Council urges all citizens to prioritize safety measures and ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with established laws and regulations," the Male' City Council said.
The incident occurred last Saturday when two foreign workers fell from the first floor of a building under construction. The victims were identified as two Nepalese men, aged 22 and 39. Details regarding their injuries have not been disclosed.
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, it is the legal responsibility of the employer to provide workers with the necessary safety equipment and gear.
