Two expatriate workers have sustained injuries after falling from the first floor of a building under construction.
In a message to the press, police confirmed that the victims are two Nepalese men, aged 22 and 39. Details regarding the extent of their injuries have not yet been disclosed.
According to the police, the incident occurred at a construction site on Majeedhee Magu. Sources indicate that the workers fell from a building located near the Veylaa store.
"Upon receiving the report, police officers immediately attended the scene. Preliminary findings suggest that the two individuals fell while working on the first floor of the building," the police said.
A video circulating on social media shows the two men being assisted into a taxi following the fall. The footage suggests that the workers were not wearing any protective equipment required for construction work.
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide workers with the necessary safety gear.
The law also grants every worker the right to refuse tasks that pose a threat to their safety. This right must be upheld for all employees without discrimination.
