The Japanese government has donated a facial recognition system to the Maldives to strengthen border security.
The system was officially handed over to the Maldives by the Japanese Ambassador Ishigami Rumiko.
According to Maldives Immigration, the facial recognition system will bolster border management, enhance identity verification, and improve passenger processing efficiency.
Following the official handover ceremony, Home Minister Ali Ihusaan and Immigration Controller ahmed Faseeh accompanied the Japanese Ambassador to the new terminal to observe the system in operation.
During the visit, immigration officers conducted a live demonstration of the system. Immigration officials said that the demonstration showcased how the technology facilitates secure and efficient immigration clearance.
