The Housing Ministry has announced that a total of 58,505 applications were submitted for land plots and flats under the government’s "Housing for All" policy.

According to the ministry, the applications were received under two programs. A total of 35,930 applications were filed for flats, while 22,575 applications were submitted for land plots.

Aailee Boahiyaavehikan Program

  • Land Applications: 9,826

Goathi Gedhoru Program

  • Total Applications: 12,861
  • Flat Applications: 112

While the deadline for applications was originally set for midnight, a technical issue prompted authorities to extend the window until 2:00 am.

When the schemes were initially launched, the deadline for land applications was set for March 4 at 23:59, while the deadline for flat applications was April 17 at 23:59.

The deadlines were extended through the end of April and then further into May, finally closing at 2:00 am last night.

Under the Aailee Boahiyaavehikan program, the government plans to allocate a total of 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats. The land plots are designated from Rasmale', while the flats will be located in Hulhumale'.

Land plots under the Aailee Boahiyaavehikan scheme, measuring 1,250 square feet each, are available to registered Male' residents and individuals from other islands who have resided in the capital for at least 15 years.

The allocation includes 10,000 plots for Male' residents, 3,000 plots for residents from other islands living in Male', 500 plots for those deprived of property ownership due to inheritance issues, and 1,500 plots for those living in narrow alleys or on plots that are difficult to develop.

The flat allocations include 4,000 units for Male' residents, 1,500 units for non-registered residents living in the capital, and 2,400 units for special priority categories.

These priority categories include employees of various government offices, the Maldives Police Service, the Maldives National Defence Force, the Maldives Correctional Service, and other state institutions.
