The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has scheduled its internal elections for July 11 and officially opened applications for candidates today.
PNC Chairperson Abdul Raheem Abdulla said that this internal election will be the most comprehensive and well-organized in the party's history.
The application window for candidates is open until June 30. Only members registered on the party’s roster as of June 15 will be eligible to vote in the upcoming elections.
The positions up for election include:
- Constituency Presidents
- Constituency Vice Presidents
- Presidents of the Women’s Wing
- Presidents of the Youth Wing
- Steering Committee Members
Following the June 30 deadline for candidacies, the PNC plans to publish the preliminary voters' list on July 1.
The party has allocated a three-day period for members to submit any complaints regarding the list, after which the final voters' registry will be announced on July 4.
The PNC National Congress is scheduled to take place from September 15 to 18.
