Zeenaz Adnan, the spouse of former Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar, has been appointed as State Minister at the Ministry of Health.

While neither the President's Office nor the Health Ministry has officially announced the appointment, reliable sources have confirmed her appointment to Adhadhu.

When contacted for comment regarding the appointment, Zeenaz declined to provide a response.

Her appointment further increases the number of senior political appointees at the Ministry of Health.

In addition to Minister Geela Ali, the ministry now comprises a total of 12 State Ministers and 12 Deputy Ministers. The number of Political Directors currently employed at the ministry is not disclosed on its official website.

Zeenaz previously served as the Secretary General of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC). She was removed from that post following public outcry and allegations involving the submission of "fraudulent forms" with forged signatures during a party membership drive.

The appointment comes amid a reshuffle of the administration following the electoral setbacks faced by President Mohamed Muizzu in local council elections and a referendum. Several ministers resigned from their posts at the President's direction during that period.

Although Adam Shareef resigned from his cabinet position at the time, he was appointed as Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shortly thereafter.
