Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has participated in the 12th Maldives Islamic Banking and Finance Industry (MIBFI) Conference, organized by UTO EduConsult and held at Hotel Jen.
Themed "Rising to the Challenge," the conference facilitated extensive discussions on the evolving landscape of Islamic banking and finance, as well as emerging opportunities within an increasingly digital and interconnected global economy.
The event brought together senior executives from the Islamic banking sector, regulators, financial institutions, researchers, and other key industry stakeholders.
This year’s conference coincided with the 15th anniversary of the introduction of Islamic banking in the Maldives. The forum highlighted the industry's growth and milestones over the past 15 years, including the successful issuance of sovereign Sukuk and the expansion of Shari’ah-compliant financial services across the country.
Participants deliberated on critical topics shaping the future of the industry, including Fintech, Artificial Intelligence, social finance, regulatory reforms, and capital markets. Discussions also covered regional and international developments impacting the Islamic banking and finance sector.
During the sessions, MIB’s Managing Director and CEO, Mufaddal Idris Khumri, reflected on the evolution of Islamic banking in the Maldives over the last 15 years, highlighting key achievements, challenges faced, and future opportunities for the sector.
The conference featured panel discussions and presentations aimed at fostering the exchange of ideas regarding the future trajectory of the Maldivian Islamic finance industry.
The event concluded with the MIBFI Quiz, designed to encourage networking and knowledge sharing among the participants.
