Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has been honored with the "Champion of Integrated Islamic Financial Strategies – Indian Ocean 2026" award by CFI.co.

According to MIB, this accolade recognizes the bank's robust principles in Islamic banking and its sustained financial success.

Despite the geographical challenges of an archipelago like the Maldives, MIB has successfully overcome these hurdles to deliver results. Leveraging digital technology, the bank has facilitated instant account opening and streamlined applications for all its services. CFI.co also highlighted MIB's success in extending its reach and services across the atolls.

The bank stated that its strategy is built upon a strong Shari’ah governance framework and a unified operating model that integrates digital innovation with direct banking services.

This achievement reflects the bank's strong financial growth, with MIB’s statistics showing that its total assets reached MVR 16.63 billion last year.

Furthermore, the bank noted that the award recognizes MIB’s solid corporate governance structure—supported by a diversified shareholder base including the Maldivian government and the ICD—as well as its rigorous Shari’ah and board-level oversight systems.

MIB added that the award also acknowledges its ongoing investments in digital banking, self-service facilities, remote onboarding, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the customer experience.

MIB has previously secured several prestigious titles, including the Visa Commercial Solutions Excellence Award for Best Business Debit Issuer, Islamic Bank of the Decade, Islamic Finance Entity of the Year, and Islamic Bank of the Year at the 10th IFSA Awards 2025.

The bank's market position has been further solidified by winning the Best Islamic Retail Bank in Maldives 2025 at the 11th IRBA Awards, along with the award for Best Digital Banking Initiative in the Maldives.
