The government has begun dismissing individuals who supported and campaigned for Abdulla Sodiq (Sobe), following his victory in the Hithadhoo North constituency by-election held last weekend.
Information obtained by Adhadhu reveals that one government official has been terminated for participating in Sodiq’s campaign. Additionally, an employee at a state-owned enterprise (SOE) has been dismissed, while another has been suspended pending an investigation.
Among those terminated is Mahfooz Husnee, who played a leading role in Sodiq’s campaign. Mahfooz was employed at the state utilities company, STELCO, but was officially dismissed from his post effective today.
The termination letter issued to Mahfooz cited a circular from the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), which encourages state companies to reduce staff numbers as part of cost-cutting measures.
