Abdulla Nazim, who resigned as Health Minister following a cabinet reshuffle triggered by the government's defeat in the public referendum and council elections, has been reappointed to a ministerial-level position by President Mohamed Muizzu.
Prior to his appointment as Health Minister on September 30, 2024, Nazim had served as the Secretary of Public Policy at the President's Office.
Nazim resigned from his post as Health Minister on April 14, 2026. According to the President's Office website, he has now been appointed as the Secretary of Policy and Manifesto at a ministerial rank.
During his tenure as Health Minister, Nazim faced criticism for failing to resolve challenges within the health sector, including the failure to address a severe shortage of essential medicines.
Nazim previously served as Health Minister during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen as well.
