Ibrahim Haleem (Maafannu Faiykoani), a dedicated public servant who served six Maldivian presidents at the official presidential residence, Mulee'aage, passed away today.
He was 76 years old at the time of his passing. His funeral prayer is scheduled to be held tonight at 11:00 pm at the Aasahara Mosque.
In recognition of over 50 years of distinguished service to the state, Haleem was honored with the National Service Award in 2021.
Several former presidents have expressed their grief over his passing, and President Mohamed Muizzu has extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
Haleem’s career in the civil service began on July 5, 1971. He started his journey as a messenger at the Attorney General’s Office and subsequently served in similar roles at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Government Hospital, and the President’s Office.
The most significant portion of his career was spent at Mulee'aage, the official residence of the President, where he began working on February 12, 1977.
During his tenure at the presidential palace, he held various positions, including dining room attendant, supervisor, General Services Officer, General Services Supervisor, Head VIP Waiter, and Chief VIP Waiter.
Throughout his long and storied career, Haleem served under the administrations of President Ibrahim Nasir, President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President Mohamed Nasheed, President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, President Abdulla Yameen, and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
