A 14-year-old boy who was electrocuted while preparing for Eid celebrations in Laamu Gan has been evacuated to Male' and is currently receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Hospital officials informed the press that the teenager is currently on ventilator support. Patients are typically placed on ventilators when they experience significant difficulty breathing independently.

"The child brought from Laamu Gan following an electrocution is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with the assistance of a ventilator," a hospital official told Sun Media.

The incident occurred last Tuesday. According to some media reports, the boy was electrocuted while attempting to draw power from an outdoor electrical distribution board.

Electrical distribution boards are strictly prohibited from being opened by unauthorized individuals as they carry high-voltage currents. Tampering with or opening such boards poses a severe safety risk.

While the hospital has not released details regarding the extent of the boy's injuries, some news outlets have reported that he sustained significant burns across a large portion of his body.
