A Spanish tourist, staying on a safari, died on Monday after drowning while surfing near Gaaf Dhaal Vaadhoo island.
According to the police, the incident involving the 53-year-old man was reported at 12:57 pm.
Authorities confirmed that he was already deceased by the time he was brought to the Vaadhoo Health Center.
Police stated that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
The location where the Spanish tourist drowned is a popular surfing spot known as "Blue Bowls."
