Adhadhu journalist Mohamed Shahzan, who was removed from a President’s Office press conference for questioning President Mohamed Muizzu regarding allegations of sexual misconduct, has been summoned to the Criminal Court.
Shahzan was ordered to appear in court for allegedly violating a gag order issued regarding the "Aisha" documentary.
The court had previously issued the order applicable to all citizens, prohibiting the circulation of the documentary and banning any direct or indirect discussion of its contents.
This order was issued in connection with a Qazf (an Islamic criminal charge over false accusation of adultery or fornication) case filed against Adhadhu CEO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa and Editor Hassan Mohamed regarding the documentary.
In addition to Shahzan, the court has summoned journalist Leevan Ali Nasir for 11:00 am tomorrow for allegedly violating the same order. Shahzan is required to appear at 1:00 pm.
