The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has forecasted that most parts of the country will experience increased rainfall and above-average temperatures from June through September.
According to the Met Office, weather conditions over the next four months are expected to be more severe than the seasonal norm.
"From June to the end of September, there is a high probability that rainfall across most regions of the Maldives will exceed typical levels for this period. Additionally, temperatures in all areas are expected to remain higher than average," the Met Office stated in a post on X.
This seasonal forecast is generally prepared based on climatic conditions observed in April and the various factors contributing to global climate patterns.
Charts released by the Met Office indicate that temperatures will rise across the entire South Asian region during this period. The Maldives and its surrounding areas are specifically highlighted in deep red and orange on the maps, signaling that temperatures in these regions are expected to be unusually high.
