The Parliament today granted its approval to the changes made by President Mohamed Muizzu to his Cabinet.
The Cabinet was restructured following the resignation of 10 ministers at the President’s request. Under the new composition, the total number of ministries has been reduced from 20 to 15, including the Attorney General’s Office.
In addition, Muizzu appointed four new individuals to the Cabinet on April 14 who had not previously held ministerial positions in his administration.
During today's parliament sitting, approval was granted to all members of the Cabinet, including the newly appointed ministers.
Finance Minister Moosa Zameer and the newly appointed Minister of Defence, Hassan Rasheed, received the highest number of votes during the session. Both individuals received 76 votes in favor of their appointments. However, one MP voted against Zameer’s appointment.
The newly appointed Minister of Environment, Ali Shareef, received the fewest votes in favor. While 63 MPs voted to grant him approval, 13 MPs voted against his appointment.

- Minister of Economic Development, Transport, and Trade: Mohamed Saeed
- Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowment: Mohamed Shaheem
- Minister of Arts, Culture, and Heritage: Heena Waleed
- Minister of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development: Abdulla Muththalib
