President Mohamed Muizzu returned to Male' on Saturday after concluding his trip to Saudi Arabia to perform the Umrah pilgrimage.
Upon his arrival, Muizzu was welcomed at the Velana International Airport (VIA) runway by Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, several cabinet ministers, and high-ranking officials from the security forces.
Muizzu and his wife Sajidha Mohamed departed for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah just two days after the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) faced a significant defeat in the recent local council elections and referendum.
At the time of their departure, the President's Office stated that the entire trip was conducted under the full sponsorship and hospitality of the Saudi Arabian government.
