President Mohamed Muizzu and his wife Sajida Mohamed left for Saudi Arabia today to perform Umrah pilgrimage.
According to the President's Office, the Saudi government arranged all the hospitality and expenses for the trip.
Less than a month after the 2024 parliamentary elections, Muizzu and Sajida went to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
This time, they are travelling less than two days after the government lost the council elections and the referendum to merge the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Since taking office, Muizzu and Sajida have visited Saudi Arabia twice to perform Umrah and once to perform Hajj at the expense of the Saudi government.
They previously travelled to Saudi Arabia with a government delegation. It is unclear whether they are accompanied by a government delegation this time.
