The issue of the alleged corruption in developing the Male' Taxi application has been submitted to the People's Majlis.
The issue was moved by Galolhu North MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu). In a letter to Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Kudu raised many questions about the project.
It stated that a total of MVR 13 million was spent on the application. Kudu said this is an extremely high amount for such a technological project.
He also raised questions about the bidding process. MTCC did not carry out an open bidding process, and only invited parties were included.
The letter stated that the criteria used to invite these parties should be checked to see whether they were conducted in accordance with the company's policies.
Kudu further raised questions about the capability of the company contracted for the project. He noted that the company had no previous experience with such a project.
He asked a relevant parliamentary committee to look into the matter and investigate whether there was any corruption involved.
MTCC has not yet officially commented on the matter.
