Three of the 10 people who were included in a new electronic monitoring system have been released.

The Prosecutor General's (PG) office released 10 suspects in indefinite custody after conducting risk assessments three months ago.

PG Office Spokesperson Ahmed Shafeeu told Adhadhu that three of them were released for various reasons.

He said they were released after taking witness testimony and reaching sentencing in their trials.

"There are a total of seven people under the tag rule. The rest have been released from custody for various reasons," Shafeeu said.

He added that none of the people released after tagging have been re-arrested.

The electronic tagging is done by applying to the court for a review of the remand. They can be released for a maximum of 100 days.

Such individuals can apply to the court for a review of their remand every 100 days. If any such individual violates conditions imposed by the court, the PG office will immediately request the court to detain the person.
