The association representing the native residents of Male' have expressed concern over the government's decision to change some of their land plots from Giraavaru Falhu to Rasmale'.
In a letter addressed to President Mohamed Muizzu, the association said this decision goes against a presidential pledge and noted that it was unfair to change the location of the land plot.
"As you know, the residents of Male' applied for the Binveriyaa Scheme for the opportunity opened for land in Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru Falhu. Therefore, the transfer of land to any other location is a huge injustice," the association said.
The association also shared its concerns because those who received land from Giraavaru Falhu and Hulhumale' Phase 3 have not yet received their registration.
At a press conference held by the Housing Ministry on Sunday, Minister Abdulla Muththalib said some of the land in Giraavaru Falhu may have to be relocated to Rasmale' - a new city being reclaimed in Fushidhiggaru Falhu.
But during presidential election campaign in 2023, Muizzu promised that land recipients will get their land from the allocated locations.
