President Mohamed Muizzu has invited Saudi Arabian businesses to expand their investments in the Maldives.

Speaking at a ceremony held last night to commemorate the 96th National Day of Saudi Arabia, Muizzu highlighted the close bilateral ties between the two nations.

He said that he envisions the future of this relationship as a partnership aimed at supporting the Maldives' goal of becoming a fully developed nation by 2040.

"The Maldives is ready to welcome further Saudi investments and development partnerships. We are committed to formulating sound policies and strengthening the investment climate to ensure Saudi businesses and investors can participate meaningfully in our economic transformation," Muizzu said.

The President noted that future opportunities exist across various sectors, including tourism, infrastructure development, housing, healthcare, fisheries, renewable energy, and logistics, among other emerging industries.

Muizzu emphasised that the Maldives seeks to engage with Saudi Arabia not merely as a recipient of development aid, but as a proactive partner in investment and trade.
