The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) parliamentary group has met with the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) to share their concerns.
The MDP parliamentary group mainly raised concerns over the ill treatment of the October 3 detainees, including delaying medical care for Maafushi Council President Hassan Solah.
Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad told Adhadhu that HRCM clarified information about Solah's medical condition and an investigation team from the commission had visited the jail and met him.
He added that the MDP parliamentary group questioned the HRCM about the use of sonic weapons and requested the commission to clarify the use of sonic weapons before the November 17 rally.
Solah's lawyer Musthafa Hameed earlier told Adhadhu that his left thumb was broken and that there was an injury on his right rib cage.
But police delayed medical care and took him to the hospital more than 24 hours after detaining him.
A total of eight people were arrested from the October 3 rally in Male'. Six of them were remanded in custody for 15 days by the Criminal Court.
Thousands of people flooded the Artificial Beach in Male' when MDP called for the rally, but the police used pepper spray and sonic weapons to obstruct the peaceful demonstrators when they attempted to march along the main road in the capital city.
