The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched investigations against senior officials of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Sources told Adhadhu that the ACC was investigating allegations against MDP Chairperson and former Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail, former Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer and former Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath.

They are under investigation for issuing compensations for agreements cancelled during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen.

The cases were submitted to the ACC on December 22, 2024, by the Prosecutor General's (PG) office.

While the ACC tries to fast-track the cases, the anti-corruption watchdog has parked a pile of complaints connected to President Mohamed Muizzu and his loyalists.
