The government has started appointing political employees to health centres in islands.
Adhadhu understands that appointments are being made to political director posts in health centres.
On August 28, President Mohamed Muizzu appointed a political director to the health centre in Haa Dhaal Neykurendhoo.
According to details released by the government, a political director earns MVR 20,500 per month including salary and allowances. That is MVR 246,000 per year.
In July, the government declared that the total number of political appointees is 922. But this figure does not include appointees in the President's Office.
In October last year, Muizzu said 228 political appointees will be laid off as a cost-cutting measure.
Government Spokesperson Heena Waleed said appointees had been fired, but refused to provide any details.
But the state's expenses on salaries have continued to increase by millions since Muizzu assumed office in late 2023.
The President's Office has not announced the salaries and allowances of the 922 political appointees and the full list has also not been publicized.
