Maavah stabbing suspect under police custody

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing in Laamu Maavah island on Monday morning.

Police said 29-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim from Haa Dhaal Nolhivaranfaru was arrested for the murder.

Police said the stabbing took place during a fight between Mohamed Ibrahim and 29-year-old Moosa Ibrahim from Maavah.

Mohamed Ibrahim has a record of drug use. He stabbed Moosa Ibrahim in the neck, according to eyewitnesses.

Moosa Ibrahim's body is now at the island health centre. Police said he had passed away before being taken to the centre.

"Some people saw him running away after stabbing with the knife. It was near the council office," one person said.

Police said they received a report of the attack at 10:12 am.
