President Mohamed Muizzu has heaped praises on India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Delivering the joint statement after official talks between the two countries, Muizzu thanked India for arranging a USD 400 million currency swap and deferring the treasury bill for one year without charging interest.
He noted that India's continuous import of essential food items to the Maldives under the trade agreement is a symbol of the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
Muizzu also thanked India for donating 72 heavy heavy vehicles to the Maldives' military, for handing over the symbolic keys to the Gedhoruveriya (House owner) flats and proving medical cubes to support the country’s health system.
He thanked Modi for his efforts to further strengthen close relations between the Maldives and India.
"I would like to thank Modi for his efforts to further strengthen the close relationship between Maldives and India. I wish both countries prosperity," Muizzu said.
Noting that the Maldives will give all necessary cooperation to India to host COP-33, Muizzu expressed confidence that India can produce good results in the international arena.
