The parliament's Judiciary Committee has given the highest marks to the former husband of Nilandhoo MP Fathimath Saudha to be appointed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Six of the eight applicants were interviewed following the announcement by the People's Majlis. The committee selected four of the applicants who scored more than 75 marks.
The committee gave Saudha's former husband Idhris Fauzee 81 marks. Saudha is President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's younger sibling.

Eight main criteria were considered in awarding marks for the appointment of a member to the JSC. These include:
- Connection between education and position -- 20 marks
- Relevance of experience to the position -- 15 marks
- Demonstrated results and productivity -- 10 marks
- Positive attitude in taking initiative and decision making -- 10 marks
- Vision and aim -- 15 marks
- Speaking skills -- 10 marks
- Degree of interest -- 5 marks
- Honesty and sincerity -- 15 marks
While a total of 35 marks have been allotted for the connection between education and position, experience and work, Adhadhu understands that Fauzee has so far not worked in the legal sector.
Fauzee did not respond to questions about his work experience.
Some sources told Adhadhu that Fauzee first worked as a teacher in Kalaidhoo. He then moved to Male' and held a position in the Housing Ministry when Muizzu was the Minister.
Sources said he married Saudha while working in the ministry and they have children together.
Fauzee is currently the Secretary General of the Kalaidhoo Council.
