Daudh Ahmed, Under Secretary for Digital Strategy at the President’s Office and brother of Raudh Ahmed Zilaal, the main suspect in the case of Hawwa Yumna Rasheed’s fall, has been dismissed from his position after being found to have provided false statements during an official investigation.
Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed announced via a post on X that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu made the decision following revelations in the Presidential Commission’s report into the case. The report stated that Daudh had lied to investigators and failed to report critical information about the incident.
According to the Commission, Daudh denied contacting any senior government officials regarding Yumna’s fall.
However, Minister of Homeland Security Ali Ihusan testified that Daudh had called and messaged him on the night of 18 April. Ihusan confirmed he had spoken with Daudh and responded to his messages, further stating they had known each other since the 2023 presidential election.
The Commission’s report also noted that although Daudh was aware of Yumna’s fall, he did not inform the authorities. It described this failure as negligence comparable to that of his brother Raudh, and recommended that Daudh be formally investigated.
At the time of his dismissal, Daudh was already suspended from his duties. President Muizzu said the initial suspension was due to controversial photos of Daudh circulating on social media. As a result, he was also instructed to resign from the Youth Advisory Board.
