Male', Maldives: Hassan Saaid, the fastest athlete in the Maldives, has departed for China to compete in the World Athletics Indoor Championship.
It si Saaid’s third appearance in the prestigious event, having previously participated in the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and Belgrade, Serbia.
This year, the World Indoor Championship will be held in Nanjing, China, from March 21-23.
"Off to China for the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships, marking my third appearance at a World Athletics Indoor Championship over the course of more than a decade. This is a testament to how a positive mindset, dedication, and discipline can help overcome numerous obstacles," Saaid shared on his social media.
Representing his own club, Saaid Sports, Hassan secured his spot in the Indoor Championship by defeating Ibadulla Adam in time trials. Saaid clocked 6.83 seconds in the 60m race, while Ibadulla, who is currently training in Jamaica, finished with a time of 6.90 seconds.
Saaid, the most successful individual athlete in the Maldives, has also competed in the Asian Indoor Championships.
