Five people have been arrested for holding a man hostage and shaving part of his head in Hithadhoo of Addu city.
Police said they were patrolling in a vehicle at around 1:35 am when they saw a group of people trying to run away near Hithadhoo Milo grounds.
Police officers found a 37-year-old man tied to a joali (traditional bench) near the area. He had been beaten and part of his head was shaved off.
"Four people and a minor were arrested from the crime scene," police said.
The suspects are two 20-year-olds, a 21-year-old, a 22-year-old and a 15-year-old boy. Police said they were investigating further.
