Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamed Wajeed has been dismissed.
The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) removed Wajeeh from the post of CEO and Board Director of MPL.
The PCB did not disclose the reason for his dismissal. He was appointed to the position on November 28, 2023.
Before being appointed as CEO, Wajeeh held various positions in MPL for nine years. He also worked in the education sector and served as an MP.
Under Wajeeh's leadership, MPL achieved some important milestones last year. These include the introduction of sea-to-air cargo services and international bunkering services.
His dismissal comes at a time when some senior government officials have been sacked or transferred including Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal who was dismissed last week.
